The nursing home has been registered with the Care Quality Commission for more than two years. In the last report by the CQC from April 2017, the facility received an overall rating of good. I have been visiting for about 7 years and have always found the staff happy and considerate of my sister's care. Our Greenslades home has recently undergone some renovations and we now have new windows, doors, bathrooms, soft furnishings and decorations. The dementia suite now has special lighting which brightens and dims according to the natural light and residents’ movements which promotes better sleep at nighttime. Our Namaste room has soothing sounds of water and music, fibre optic lights and peaceful images projected onto the walls.

People's care needs were delivered in line with their individual care plan. Staff were clear about their role to protect people and involve them in day to day decisions. Staffing levels met people’s needs while their care and emotional needs were stable. They were able to describe people’s preferences and showed sensitivity to each person’s needs. One care worker was chatting to one person about relevant topics such as family members and dogs and they told us how one person liked a certain radio channel or quiet.

End of life care was also excellent and there were many examples of how staff had promoted a good quality of life in people’s final days as well as supporting families.
